Lag B’Omer Customs

Lag B’Omer, the 33rd day in the Counting of the Omer between Passover and Shavuot, marks the anniversary of the death of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai and the end of a plague that killed 24,000 of Rabbi Akiva’s disciples. This video (02:18) explains many of the customs of Lag B’Omer celebrated in Jewish communities in Israel and around the world, including lighting bonfires, visiting the burial place of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai in northern Israel, and playing with bows and arrows.
