This is DJ Skazi‘s modern mash up of ‘Bella Ciao’ (3:57) – an Italian folk song that has become an internationally-recognized anthem of freedom and resistance. Italian women working in the rice fields in the 19th Century used to sing ‘Bella ciao’ in protest of their harsh working conditions. During WWII, the song was adopted by Italian partisans resisting Nazi occupation, and it was again adopted by the anti-fascist side of the Italian Civil War. Now, Israeli DJ Skazi has taken the song and, in his signature punk-psytrance style, created something completely different. Skazi (Asher Swissa) is a world-renowned trance legend who’s been on the music scene for over 20 years and counting.
