This brief documentary film [06:45] is published by the Jewish Partisan Educational Foundation, an organization committed to educating youth about the Jewish partisans and the essential lessons to be learned from their heroic fight against fascism. The documentary tells the dramatic story of how the Bielski brothers started the Bielski partisan group in the forests of Western Belorussia. Instead of focusing only on self-protection and fighting the enemy (a noble cause in and of itself), the Bielski brothers also decided to accept those who were unable to fight: children, mothers, and elderly. The Bielski partisans later joined forces with non-Jewish Soviet partisans, helping each other survive while fighting against the German army.
